It's around mid-June and also Fifa World Cup fever month, I don't stay up to watch every match but I'm a fan of Germany team ever since I fell for Oliver Kahn many, many years back and would check the results of each match on Fifa app every morning before work :)
For those who stay up for the exciting matches, please take care of your health, your family and be efficient in your job as usual.
Just a friendly reminder, heheh.

I have been inactive on Facebook lately but ain't busy actually; attended a conference in Kuching, Sarawak on 12th to 14th with around 10 of my colleagues and got into a minor car accident a few days back are basically two major things that happened this month, so far.
The conference was about Mental Health and was held in Riverside Majestic Hotel in Kuching.
Just as what it's named after, the hotel is located just by the riverside. Ok not exactly but just across the road by the riverside.
We reached Kuching in the evening on 11th. After checking-in, I had dinner with another Chinese colleague and her friends at  a cafe called "Wakakaka" (I was going to wakakaka as well when I saw the signboard of the cafe lol)
I ordered a spicy pasta with a level 9 spiciness, wanted 10 which is the highest level but the waitress somehow convinced me to try level 9 and surprisingly, the pasta wasn't spicy AT ALL.
They had a challenge which is finish up a level 10 spiciness pasta and steak in 5 mins. I would certainly accept the challenge for free dinner if the time could be extended a little bit longer.

As for the following days, let the photos do the talking.
By the way, there are too many photos and I am way too lazy to edit all of them, so sorry!

My first breakfast in the hotel! Those opposite are my colleague's.
I am a typical chinese, I love congee!

Welcome dinner with cultural performances in the hotel at night

Dato-s - dato-s dancing on the stage, they were really sporting!

Dancer shooting down a balloon using some sort of traditional gun.
And also gave a "free tutorial" to one of the audiences.

I had so much fun that night.
Not because of the performances but because of my colleagues.
There were 8 of us who came for the dinner that night while only 2 of us, which included me, were Chinese.
I bet half of the participants of the conference were Malays too.
Ironically, the dinner served that night was chinese cuisine (halal, of course)
I meant no offense, totally none but I couldn't help smirking and sometimes even bursting into laughter as I saw my colleagues struggle with the chopsticks and also their changing facial expressions when they tried out our food.
Never have I thought that they couldn't really accept the taste 'cause for most of the Chinese including me, Malay cuisine is perfectly fine for us!
I felt kinda funny and sorry for them at the same time. My Chinese friend and I enjoyed the meal pretty much but I guess the rest didn't XD

So these are what we had for dinner that night

One of the waitress helped to cut the fish

Not bad, huh? But it was totally hell for my Malay colleagues :(

Heavy breakfast on the second morning as I was starving

Photos of the talks I attended during the conference.
I admire those speakers, they are either doctors, professors or a combination of two.

After the conference ended, my colleague and I went across the Sarawak River for "kek lapis hunting"

The famous Mira Cake House, located just by the river.
Many people bought from this cake house but I personally prefer another cake house which is located behind the mosque, named "Dayang" 'cause it was recommended by OTs (Occupational Therapists) of Hospital Sentosa, Kuching when I went there for attachment around a year back.
I snapped photos of the outer view of Dayang Cake House but missed out when I was uploading all the photos :/
Here is the only one I uploaded- sample of all sorts of kek lapis provided in Dayang Cake House.

View of the riverside. The white building on the right is the hotel I stayed in.

After buying kek lapis, we went window shopping at Parkson next to the hotel as it was going to rain.
It was there where I started telling my colleague all my grandmother's stories and I'm glad that she could accept me as who I am even after that.

So this is her... The cute, short hair girl- Yong

After a long conversation with her and taking a bath, I met up with my junior- Nicholas and we chilled out in a pub.
I am not an alcoholic and yea I am aware that my religion forbids us from drinking...
I just like the idea of drinking in every place I visit, I don't drink on usual days.

On the last day, Yong and I got up really late and missed our buffet breakfast so we went food hunting.

Photo taken by the window of our room

Kucing-s of Kuching!

Sarawak's famous kolo mee

Gawai Festival decoration everywhere

It was really hot that day. We walked through streets and finally found kolo mee.
Most of the shops were closed as it was Sunday morning and many were off to church.

Photos of fish and corals taken at the Kuching airport and bye Kuching!

The trip was beneficial and enjoying, I really love Sarawak and will definitely visit again.
The simplicity of its people and way of living is what I love most.

For the second "major thing" as I mentioned earlier in this post...
Tadaa...

I had a minor car accident with a taxi on the same spot where I bumped into a bus and divider last time.
I wasn't as upset as the previous time and was kinda relieved as it could got worse, much much worse than this.
Furthermore, it happened just on the street where my hubby works so he settled everything with the taxi driver.
If it was me who had to deal with him, he would certainly ask for a big sum of money.

I believe we can read one's true personality through one's way of driving.
So reckless drivers (like me?) are surely people who are impatient, rough, careless and hot-headed.
I have changed much throughout the years but maybe my true personality starts revealing to no end whenever I drive :/

Lastly, I will end my post as usual- with photos of my home-cooked food...

This last photo... Only the one on the right is cooked by me...
I merely boiled it with salt and water and put on some soy sauce as I was the only one eating that evening!

Thanks again for reading, have a good day, buhbye!

2014·26

As we age, time seems to slip away faster and faster; half of the year is gone in just the blink of an eye.
This May was a beautiful month, with flaws- as usual, yet beautiful.

I used to hate my birthday since a few incidents, so where most of the people around me celebrate and enjoy during their birthdays, I usually just immerse myself in negative emotions.
The reason to it need not be explained here, the point is this whole thought changed after my hubby came into my life.
Nothing really special happened this birthday, he just cooked for me and called a few of his buddies over for a get together as a celebration.
So here are photos of food that he cooked that night.
Most of his friends (I think all, hell yeah) are carnivores so all the dishes were meat, except noodles and tofu.

* Used Blend Collage app to create this collage, simply love this app!!!

After his friends went off and he dozed off, I took selfie-s with my doggie!

I love everything about Popeye, except its fur :/

Not to forget, my first ex actually text-ed me on my birthday, sending his wishes.
I wasn't totally happy, wasn't totally sad, wasn't totally surprised; it was a bit of every emotions.

The next major event after my birthday is my sister-in-law's wedding!
She and her spouse have finally brought the 9 years long-run relationship into another level, another stage!
It was my first time being a bridesmaid and observing a traditional chinese wedding ceremony, unlike previous times where I usually just attend the wedding dinner.
It was a joyful and meaningful experience.
I never thought of the game preparation, never knew that having a big bunch of guys playing games according to your rules is hard (haha -.-), never knew that tea have to be served to each and every older generation of the family by the wedding couple, not only to the parents and grandparents of the wedding couple and also never knew that during the wedding dinner, there are actually a few people back there counting, jotting down names and amount of the red packets received during entry of the dinner.

Anyway, best wishes to my sister-in-law and her spouse!
May they have a blissful marriage and be blessed with wonderful children! :)

Photo taken with my sister-in-law, the bride
She looked so gorgeous that day!

Bridesmaids in mint-green
* Happy to make new friends!! :D

Selfie with two of the bridesmaids- Yvonne Loh and Michelle Loh (they are not sisters nor relatives haha)

Selfie with my cute hubby, heheh

My hubby and I spent a few days at his hometown and I had a good time with him, his family and friends.
Each time my mother-in-law introduced me as her daughter-in-law to friends and relatives, I felt extraordinarily happy 'cause my hubby and I are married in the Bahai way, we haven't gone through the traditional chinese wedding ceremony yet; thus for some of the chinese, we are still not considered as married and I was just simply astonished and kinda touched by my mother-in-law...
This time at home, besides getting to do chores like hanging clothes and helping out in the kitchen, I also had a 40 mins random chat with my mother-in-law in a late afternoon which I never expected to happen!
Well all this while I am just being polite when it comes to my hubby's family, getting close is a big step forward for me and I guess it's happening, slowly. Keep going :)

So that's all for May!
As for June, nothing much so far.
My hubby and I watched X-Men two days back and Godzilla yesterday.

Good food, good movies and good companion make a good time!
Never get bored of spending time with you :)

That's all for this post.
I'm running late, have to get some ingredients to make lunch and finish my chores quickly!
So here are some food photos to end the post... First two cooked by me on 28.05.2014 (I didn't remember that date by heart, it's stated on the photo)
And the last two are taken on a date with my buddy!
Thanks for reading, have a nice day, goodbye!
